The world’s largest female surfing event returns to Kingscliff Beach this weekend. Seas The Day Festival, designed to celebrate women in our sport, attracts crowds in the thousands and is set to feature a number of free events and activities including a women’s tag team surf contest, a range of talks, entertainment and a wellness hub that includes access to yoga, ice baths, breath work and more.
Throughout the festival there will be a range of surf contests including the open women’s tag team, para tag team, under 18 tag team, longboard tag team and under 12 mini shredders. There will also be two stages, the Tracks Stage and the Nutra Organics Stage, filled with different speakers and Q&A’s across the weekend, as well as the Ruffie Wellness Hub.
The Tracks Stage, hosted by Kate Allman, includes talks from the likes of WSL campaigners India Robinson and Sophie McCullough who will be reflecting on the WSL’s decision to increase the women’s CT field to 24 surfers for the 2026 season. They will also be discussing the recently announced plans to scrap the mid year cut and include Pipeline as the final event of the year.
In a surfing world where an increasing number of professional athletes are starting families and having children while still trying to juggle their competitive duties, former World Champ Chelsea Hedges will be hosting a Q&A on ‘How to be a surfing mum’.
Nick Carroll and Hannah Anderson will also be doing a live recording of their ‘We Shouldn’t Be Friends’ podcast on the Sunday at the Tracks stage.
Elsewhere, on the Nutra Organics Stage, hosted by WSL commentator and the face of the Tracks Party Tour Jesse Sterling, there will be talks from the likes of up and coming surfing and acting superstar Lilliana Bowrey. The 20-year-old has previously told Tracks that she’s ‘passionate about showing that girls can get pitted too’ and has proved that with her standout performances in Indo and at Kirra earlier this year. Lilliana uses her presence on social media to promote surfing equality and encourage younger girls to push themselves in the surf.
There will also be a focus on surf photography as Beatriz Ryder hosts a Q&A titled ‘Through her lens’. Beatriz is a regular contributor to Tracks and is an official WSL photographer whose had the opportunity to shoot the world’s best surfers in the world’s best waves.
Aside from the talks, you can come get try your hand in a range of activities including yoga, icebaths and meditation. There will also be food trucks and live music on site. So whether you want to get involved or just come and soak up the vibes, there is something for everyone this weekend at Seas The Day Festival.
