The Tracks Party Tour is set to return this Saturday for one final send of 2025 at the Northern Hotel Byron Bay. The show will headlined by Indie rock outfit Letters To Lions. They will be supported by post surf punk favourites Lazy Ghost, grunge and metal outfit Headsend, who are fresh off supporting Wunderhorse’s Australian Tour and set to open for Australian metal lords Tool in the coming weeks, as well as Royal Rat Bags. The night will be hosted by Ain’t That Swells’ Jed Smith, the larrikin voice of surfing culture, who is set to bring heaps of shenanigans. Purchase tickets here.
Anyone who arrives before 9.30pm will be in with the chance of winning a Rip Curl E-Bomb wetsuit and there will be heaps of other giveaways from our partners including a Burzerk e-bike worth almost $4,000. Anyone who buys a ticket to any stop on the tour will be automatically entered into a draw for a chance to win.
Ahead of our Byron Bay show, we caught up with the crew from Lazy Ghost, to learn more about the band made up of Kyle on lead vocals and guitar, Chris on lead guitar, Sam on drums and Archer on bass.
Tell us a little bit about the origins of the band?
The band originally formed in Canada a while back. I didn’t meet these boys until covid destined us to be together when I got back from Canada. I’m Australian but went on one of those long winded working holidays. There’s a few good things in life and we’ve found music which we’re all holding onto.
How would you describe your sound?
Anything psychedelic and real surf rock. We try to steer clear of writing lame ass love songs. Love is easy, taking the piss is hard.
Do you boys have any links to surfing?
I’m a snow sports type-a-fella. We’re all kooks. Chris knows his way around a board though.
What can people expect from a Lazy Ghost show?
You’ll see all of us want to be in the crowd rather than on stage. Sam gets shirtless and whips his limbs around, Archer looking mysterious, Chris has his toes out and Kyle is sweating profusely.
Career highlights so far?
Playing Splendour in the Grass in 2023, Selling out shows in New Zealand and this interview.
Your favourite Lazy Ghost song?
An unreleased one lol PLUGGGG
If you were to make a band out of professional surfers or any other famous people, who would be in it and what instrument would they play?
I’d love to see Charlie Sheen lead sing and play guitar. Christopher Walken on the drums, Jack Johnson on the stand up bass and John John Florence on lead guitar.
If you could play a festival with two other headliners of your choice, they can be dead or alive, who would you pick?
The Wiggles and The Beatles.
Come and check out Lazy Ghost this Saturday at the Tracks Party in Byron. Purchase tickets here.
