Title: Andy Irons “Peace”

Artist: Jason Childs

The Location-Rags Rights, Mentawai islands, Sumatra, Indonesia

This was shot during the filming of the 2004 Billabong surf movie, Blue Horizon starring Andy Irons and Rasta. At the height of his career Andy was unstoppable and on this was taken when he was on his way to a 3rd world title in 2004.The opening wave of the movie features Andy weaving his way below sea level through one of the Ments’ best waves. Sadly the wave isn’t the same since the 2010 earthquake lifted the reef up.

As a photojournalist, Jason is as experienced and as passionate as they come. For three decades Jason has been working as an in-demand professional photographer. He began a staff photography position at The Age newspaper in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia. In 1992 Jason left Australia to fulfil his ambitions of travelling the world and shooting International Sporting Events: Olympics, Moto GP, Ashes Cricket, ATP Tour, ASP Surfing. Since 1985, his surfing and beach lifestyle photography has stood firmly among the best in the world and has graced the covers of every major surf and beach lifestyle magazine on the globe, including the prestigious USA publication Surfer Magazine and Tracks Magazine where he has a long history dating back to shootings the ASP Ripcurl comps at Bells in the 1980s and then scoring covers and spreads with Tracks and Waves Mag from his first Indonesian trip to Bali and Nias in 1989. In the last five years, Jason has evolved his photography and embraced technology in photography- his latest weapon of choice is the Drone!

My favourite studio is the outdoors. The best studios are the ones that I discover along the way travelling to new destinations documenting the surf, culture, and its indigenous peoples.

The Framing Process

Your Print will be expertly framed with your choice of a sustainable timber frame. Then it will be finished with lightweight, optically clear, museum grade acrylic which offers 95% protection against UV rays. It will undergo one final inspection, before being securely packed for shipping. If your print is not being framed, it will be carefully rolled with cotton interleave and placed into a cylinder for delivery.

We have selected three framing options that we believe complement the images perfectly and allow them to really stand out. With both white, black and Tassie oak options, our quality framing suits a range of settings and styles. We do not use basic framing glass, instead, we use high-quality acrylic. This acrylic is lightweight, protects against 99% of UV rays and is shatterproof.

Acrylic face mounting is one of the most impressive and striking ways to display your photographic print. Your print is mounted behind acrylic and the back is covered with specially treated aluminium. This process will completely protect your image from front to back. Your image is mounted edge to edge and creates a beautiful frameless finishes. Each piece is professionally finished with hand-polished edges. We use 4.5mm optically clear, Museum Grade Acrylic which has 99% UV protection. Acrylic is extremely safe to use, as it is shatter resistant and provides exceptional protection from sunlight, weather and temperature extremes. Once hung, your print floats approximately 16mm off the wall. You can be assured that you will receive an absolutely perfect, high-quality finish. The result is truly spectacular.

Of course, you can also select the ‘print only’ option and frame the image as you please. All photos are printed on premium Hahnemuhle Ultra Smooth Photo Rag 305gsm paper giving each image incredible colours and luminosity.

Each print art piece is created upon order and takes between 3 weeks to print, mount, frame and ship to you. International orders will take longer.

Each print art piece is printed and framed just for you in the size and frame of your choice. That means we are unable to accept returns or exchanges. We are also unable to make any changes or cancellations to orders after 24 hours.

If for any reason your new artwork arrives in anything other than perfect condition you will need to notify us within 24 hours of receiving the art and we will repair or replace the artwork.
