Yesterday, our trusty lensman, Simon ‘Swilly’ Williams completed a lap of the Gold Coast with his camera in hand. As you can see from the images, the fabled holiday stretch has been gutted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. According to Swilly, Dbah was the worst affected. “D’bah is gone… Never seen Dbah like that. Wild how much sand has gone and no sand at all from the Spit to Burleigh.” It’s likely to be some time before the beaches are replenished along the Gold Coast, meanwhile the WSL will be hoping enough sand can be pumped to create a bank at Snapper Rocks in time for the scheduled CT event in early May.
