The organisers of the Jack McCoy Australian Surf Film Fest have set up an online auction to raise money for the family of Mercury Psillakas who tragically passed earlier this month after a shark attack at Dee Why on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
You could win a number of items including a nine day boat trip in the Maldives for two people, a range of surfboards from the likes of Chilli, Simon Anderson, Bennett and Eye Symmetry, as well as various pieces of art and some signed memorabilia from the likes of the Manly Sea Eagles and Bondi Rescue.
A number of in-person bids were also made on the items which went under the hammer last weekend, on the final day of McCoy Film Fest which was held at the Brookvale Surf Club. All money raised from the sold out day will be donated to the Psillakas family who were in attendance. Twin brother Mike courageously stood on stage to say a few words about his brother and reminded everyone to ‘be real’, ‘be passionate’ and always tell those close to you that you love them.
The entire room, made up of various corners of the Northern Beaches surf community, then all shared a hug with each other in what was a moving and emotional moment.
Those wishing to bid on the auction items have until Sunday 21 September to do so. Click here to get involved.
