Jack McCoy may have said his last Aloha but the spirit of the surf movie titan is set to live on with the ‘Jack McCoy Australian Surf Film Fest’.
In a surfing world that can become splintered into sub-tribes and factions, the goal of the festival is to create an inclusive atmosphere where everyone can come together and savour the fully-immersive experience of a big screen surf film.
The festival is set to take place in Sydney from 11-14 September with the goal of expanding the event internationally in 2026.
The curated line up will honour each era of surf film making – from the founding fathers, right through to modern day classics. The festival will also feature a tribute to McCoy, as well as a special Hall of Fame induction ceremony paying homage to the greats of the industry.

“Dad wanted to ensure he left behind a platform to celebrate and unite the industry, whilst reinvigorating surf culture around the world. As he always said, surf films are made to be seen on the big screen,” said Jack’s daughter Indiana Campbell.
“Throughout his career his main objective was to share the spirit of aloha by gathering the surf tribe to share the stoke. He wanted the festival to inspire each generation to come together, talk story and celebrate the art of surfing.”
Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of August, however you can register for pre sale tickets and to go into the draw to win an A1 framed print from Jack’s personal collection by clicking here.
