RIDE THIS BOARD IF…

You’re looking for a fast high-performance blade.

UNDER THE HOOD…

Similar to our highly rated Allstar model in a few ways, but different in so many others. We have taken all the best features and tweaked them for the better, to create one of our highest performers yet. Keeping an eye-catchingly smooth outline that flows into a slight hip allows for easy directional changes. Matched with our slight rocker extension out through the nose allows for a larger sweet spot and prevents any catching through big powerful carves or critical parts of the wave. A slightly deeper single concave under your front foot runs down into a double concave through the fins for a bit of extra lift, yet maintaining control in larger conditions.

MITCH’S CONCLUSION…

The Allstar X’s eye-catching outline had me very keen to try it from the outset. As soon as I got to my feet on the board it was abundantly clear that it was fast. The off the mark speed was blistering. The board was equally quick in transition and was eager to release. Likewise, it was nimble through the air and didn’t require much encouragement to go beyond the lip. The feeling resonated with the surfing I’ve seen Mitch Parkinson do on these boards. Fast, radical, and versatile. Whilst initially a little bit foreign, it didn’t take long to familiarise myself with the board’s finer nuances and from that point forward I could comfortably jump on it in any given conditions and find myself having fun. I would recommend the Allstar X to anyone looking for a fast, all-round blade with a little bit of X factor. Its speed and release make it the perfect choice for anyone looking to maximise their performance in playful conditions and ramp up the fun.

MITCH’S CONCLUSION…

Personally, epoxy (EPS) surfboards have never really been my forte. Subsequently, it isn’t surprising that initially I struggled to figure out the EPS Gen 4 Allstar X. However, once I slowed my surfing down, I found the board to be quite user-friendly. Featuring ‘Hyperflex’ construction, the board’s in the pocket performance was top tier. On multiple occasions, in spite of being late to the section, its extra spring would allow me to surmount fast approaching lips with ease. This responsiveness was impressive even for an EPS. The off the mark speed was also a great aspect of the board’s performance. I found in smaller conditions it gave me the means to focus on my surfing rather than the generation of speed. If you’re after a board that will get you out of bed on those near flat days, the EPS Allstar X will have you covered. Its combination of speed and responsiveness gave it all the tools necessary to perform in even the worst of waves.

PU V EPS

Call me a luddite but I’ve got a penchant for PU. Typically, I find EPS boards to be a bit too buoyant for my style of surfing and there was no difference in the Gen 4. I’m not trying to disparage the epoxy, it serves a purpose, and for the right style of surfer would be an excellent board. But the planing speed of the PU and its stability underfoot made it much more suited to me. It felt like I could push hard against it through turns without it sliding and it gratified the type of surfing I like to do.
