G-Land Tsunami – Father and Son Return

Rob and Billy Bain return to G-Land after the ’94 Tsunami that almost claimed Rob’s life.

In Tracks 575, which has just gone on sale now, you’ll find a feature titled, Tsunami Brothers, in which Monty Webber recalls his first-hand experience of the 1994 Indonesian Tsunami that swept through the camp at G-Land deep in the night. It is a harrowing read and illustrated perfectly with Peter ‘ Bosko’ Boskovic’s haunting imagery of the unfolding drama.

This clip documents Rob Bain, who was among many high profile surfers in the camp at the time, returning to G-Land with his son Billy on the 25th anniversary of the Tsunami in order to pay their respects to those who passed, and to ride the rolling left barrels of G-Land together.
