A fundraiser has been set up to support the recovery of Andre de Ruyter who lost his leg when he was attacked by a bull shark while surfing in Manly on Sydney’s Northern Beaches earlier this year.
The attacked happened on 19 January after Andre had paddled out for an evening surf at the city beach. He was rescued by two local surfers and revived by a string of local responders on the beach.
Any money raised will go towards physio sessions to help the 27-year-old walk, surf and live freely again.
The family have set up an initiative where members of the public can donate $3 and will be entered into a draw to win a number of prizes. There will be eight winners drawn at different times throughout August. Over $5000 worth of prizes have been donated to the cause from brands including: Billabong, Rip Curl, Afends, URBN Surf and more.
