Submissions for the MP Cutback Classic Comp have now closed and some of the most stylish surfers in the game will now judge over 500 videos of cutbacks, with a number of winners being crowned during an awards night held on 4 October at the Balter Tap Room in Currumbin.
The event, which celebrates the 1971 historical image of Michael Peterson laying it on rail in his iconic red trunks at Kirra, is being judged by some of the best rail game’s in the business; Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Dean Morrison, Steph Gilmore, Tom Curren and Occy.
There will be prizes for the best entries from groms, as well as prizes for the best overall cutback for both the surfer and filmer involved.
Prizes include a replica of the board Michael rode in that iconic shot and various other memorabilia, as well as some FCS prize packs for the groms and filmers and a DRAFT surfboard from Josh Kerr’s new brand.
The awards ceremony will run from 6 till 9pm. Tickets cost $16.75 and under 12’s are welcome for free.
