LONG BEACH, Long Island/New York (Friday, September 9, 2011) – The final day of the Quiksilver Pro New York has been called on this morning, with the Quarterfinals commencing at 8am in offshore, four-foot barrels at Long Beach, Long Island.
Event No. 6 of 11 on the 2011 ASP World Title season, the Quiksilver Pro New York will culminate today in pristine conditions for the area, setting a fitting stage for the developing ASP World Title race, the mid-year rotation campaigns as well as the richest event in surfing history (prize purse of US$1,000,000)
“As projected, we have clean conditions and good swell remaining this morning so competition will commence at 8am,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “The surf is meant to hang around throughout the morning before dropping this afternoon so we expect to have a champion crowned by midday. Good luck to all our remaining competitors.”
Up first this morning will be Taj Burrow (AUS), 33, up against Jadson Andre (BRA), 21, in Quarterfinal 1.
The Quiksilver Pro New York will be webcast LIVE via http://www.quiksilverpro.com
Surfline, official forecasters for the Quiksilver Pro New York, are calling for the Katia swell to be fading through the day. Small scale surf is expected for the weekend.
