Fears For Two West Australian Surfers Missing in Mexico

Families turn to social media for help finding loved ones.

Hopes are fading for two West Australian surfers reported missing in Mexico.

Numerous news sites are reporting the pair, Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman were last spotted getting off a ferry in the port town of Topolobampa on November 20 and were due to continue in their van towards Guadalajara.

The alarm was raised after they failed to arrive at their planned destination by November 21.

This morning, a Mexican news outlet is also reporting a burnt out van similar to the one Dean and Adam were travelling in has been found. Two bodies were in it, although local police have yet to confirm if they are the missing West Australians.

The ABC is reporting  “The families and partners are aware the van in which they were travelling has been located by Mexican authorities and that a tragic event has occurred.

“The families hold deep fears for the safety of their sons but stress that they are still waiting for details to be confirmed.”

Lucas’ partner Josie Cox quickly established the hashtag #finddeanandadam which has quickly spread.

Families of the pair are due to fly out to Mexico to further the search and have asked for privacy “during this enormously difficult time”.
