Bill Delaney’s 1977 classic surf movie, Free Ride, captured the heady days of the shortboard revolution and showcased some of the world’s most progressive surfing with revolutionary slow motion water photography. Mark Richards, Shaun Tomson and Wayne ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew were at the height of their powers when Free Ride was originally released, and it was an instant hit at the box office. Free Ride became the gold standard for surf films and now, almost half a century later, the original videotape assets have been found and were meticulously restored, bringing you the most complete version of Free Ride seen since its original theatrical release in 1977. A film about living with the ocean and enjoying life, Free Ride presents this 45th Year Anniversary Edition in celebration of surfing, the ocean and the freedom of the ride.
