Three wildcards and two injury replacements have been announced ahead of the second stop of the WSL CT; the Abu Dhabi wavepool event which is set to kick off in two days. As far as potential upsets go, this crew could go a long way in the comp and spoil a lot of people’s time in the Middle East.
The following surfers have been announced as wildcards for the event:
- Kauli Vaast – Olympic Gold Medalist
- Bronson Meydi – World Junior Champ and a demon in the air
- Macy Callaghan – Ever stylish former tour competitor
The injury replacements are:
- Mateus Herdy – replaces Crosby Colapinto, close to quality for the CT past couple years and has an undeniable air game
- Ian Gentil – replaces Gabriel Medina, former tour vet
This has to be one of the most stacked lineups of wildcards and replacements the WSL has ever put on. Almost every surfer is in form and has that something special about them which could go the extra mile in a controlled environment like the wave pool where it becomes harder to split between surfers.
