Surf, beer and yarning about the past while looking ahead to the future, what’s not to love?
Bennett Surf and McTavish Surfboards, in collaboration with Tracks and Brookvale Arts District, are hosting ‘Surf, Hops and History’, a three day festival that blends nostalgia with modern surf culture, providing a full-spectrum experience that honours the past while celebrating the future of surfing. The festival is being held to honour 60 years since the 1964 World Titles were held at Manly Beach and to celebrate 600 editions of Tracks.
The event will take place from Friday 25 October to Sunday 27 October at the newly recommissioned Brooky Surf Club, located at the Bennett Surf Factory on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and will feature surf film screenings, live music and panel discussions with surfing legends such as Bob McTavish, Phil Jarratt, Beau Young and Tom Carroll.
There will also be live board shaping and a variety of surf merch available, as well as food and drinks from local businesses and breweries.
Tracks will be present throughout the weekend, showcasing our new company caravan and selling our latest range of T-shirts featuring iconic Tracks covers. We will also be celebrating #600 issues of Tracks.
On the Sunday we will be celebrating 600 editions of Tracks with a film screening of the iconic 2011 movie Galactik Tracks which features the like of David Rastovich, Ozzie Wright, Craig Anderson, Ry Craike and Dean Morrison as they embark on a voyage through the unknown to score the waves of their life. We will also be hosting a panel discussion featuring a number of journalists who will be talking about the media landscape within surfing.

There will also be a number of other film screenings throughout the weekend, including archive footage from the 1964 World Titles held in Manly, as well as live music from Almost Toast Band, Pat Capocci and others.
On the Saturday from 11am till 2pm there will be a vintage surf craft and car show where event goers will get the chance to purchase one of the many boards that were made before 1995.
Tom Bennett, from Bennett Surfboards, said: “This celebration is a must-attend for surf enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the rich history and vibrant culture of surfing. We look forward to celebrating the occasion with all the various members of our surfing community.”
