The Capitulo Perfeito – a one day invitational tube riding contest which aims to showcase the best waves of the European winter – has announced that it will be going global in 2026 by hosting events in Mozambique and Indonesia as well as its usual home of Carcavelos in Portugal.
Balaram Stack, Bruno Santos, Joel Parkinson, Noah Beschen, Rob Machado, Soli Bailey, Torrey Meister, Tosh Tudor, Cam Richards and Anne Dos Santos have been confirmed as the international invitees for the European edition of the event which could run on any day from 12 January – 12 March 2026 in the heaving beach break tubes of Carcavelos.
Meanwhile the waiting periods for the other two events are as follows:
- Mozambique, Praia da Barra – 12 January – 30 March
- Indonesia, Desert Point, Lombok – 1 September – 15 September
This expansion builds on the project’s first international step in 2024, when event organisers took some of Portugal’s best up and coming surfers, alongside a small selection of international groms, to the Mentawai’s for a week of training and competition.

Both the Mozambique and Indo events will feature the finalists from the Carcavelos comp, as well as two local surfers and two international wildcards. At each stop there will be a top prize of 10,000 EUR for the winner.
“We celebrate another year of Capítulo Perfeito, now with a decisive step in our strategy,” said event organiser Rui Costa. “We have always shown the ambition of going global. I want to thank the 89 surfers who have taken part since 2012, the Cascais City Council for its support in 8 out of 12 editions, Turismo de Portugal, all our partners and, in particular, Billabong, who has been with us since 2014. In 2026 we’ll be facing major challenges: we move from searching for one swell per year to three, across three continents. This is the true spirit of Capítulo Perfeito. Everyone is invited to experience this spectacle in Carcavelos, then in Mozambique and later in Indonesia.”
The international invitees will be joined by some of Portugal’s finest tube riders – Joao Maria Mendonca, Miguel Blanco and Nic Von Rupp.

Another local charger will be granted entry into the contest via fan poll, with the surf community around the world being called out to vote for their favorite tube riding expert from a list of seven Portuguese surfers: Pedro Boonman, Lourenço Sousa, Martim Fortes, Tiago Stock, Guilherme Fonseca, Afonso Antunes and Luís Perloiro.
The remaining spots in the event will be taken up by the local trials winner and a performance wildcard will be handed out by the event directors, who will be keeping an eye on the best performing tube riders across the world throughout the waiting period and will send out a last minute invite, adding another touch of suspense to what is one of the more unique surf contests in the world.
The Women’s category will return for a second year running and will feature a straight final between some of the country’s best up and coming talent: Camila Cardoso, Gabriela Dinis, Mafalda Lopes and Maria Salgado.
While we wait for the Atlantic Ocean to light up the Portuguese stretch of sand, you can vote for the Portuguese charger you wish to be entered into the event by clicking here.
