How many pro surfers have had to balance competing while also shredding the guitar at live gigs and tearing up dance floors? Not too many. For CS surfer Kyuss King, that’s just another day in his office, as he prepares to get his quest for Championship Tour qualification underway at Newcastle Surfest, while also hitting the stage with his band, Headsend, this Friday at the Beach Hotel in Merewether for the Tracks Party Tour.
Kyuss alongside his brother, Rasmus, formed the band last year. They also recruited their nan’s next door neighbour and friend from school, Bon, who plays drums. The boys have been making noise in the music scene with their grungy sound, metal anthems and have been a crowd favourite at a number of our Tracks parties.
We caught up with the band at our last event on the Gold Coast to learn more about their origins, their plans to release an album and what keeps them grounded. You can check that out below:
You can catch Headsend at our upcoming Tracks Party at the Beach Hotel Merewether on Friday 6 June. They will be supporting headliners Rum Jungle and will be joined by Big Wheels and Nana Klumpp.
Our Newy show will also be hosted by Ain’t That Swells’ Jed Smith, the larrikin voice of surfing culture, who is set to bring heaps of shenanigans.
There will be tons of giveaways from our partners including a Burzerk e-bike worth almost $4,000. Anyone who buys a ticket to any stop on the tour will be automatically entered into a draw for a chance to win.
Tracks Parties are powered by CASA, Rip Curl, Yeti, Burzerk, Surfers for Climate & Ain’t That Swell.
