The South Australia coastline is home to a number of remote and heavy slabs that are reserved for only the hardest of chargers.
One particular off-grid wave is always on the radar of slab hunters like Kipp Caddy, Russell Bierke and others. During a session at the end of 2023 at this spot that featured the likes of Kipp, Nathan Florence, Noa Deane and more, Dylan Longbottom punctured a lung.
Commenting on the wave at the time, Kipp said: “People don’t realise at this wave, the bottom’s jagged, like it’s all pinnacles that point out like javelins. If you fall on a wave with that much power and you hit the bottom there’s gonna be such serious consequences.”
With a recent swell lighting up the forecast, Kipp headed back to the slab and this time he was joined by underground charger Justin ‘Jughead’ Allport and rising star Hughie Vaughan.
Tim Bonython was on hand to capture the action and his latest YouTube edit sees the crew tow into some XL square caverns. The likes of Russell, Kael Walsh and Harry Bryant are also trying to paddle into some of the bombs.
Northern Beaches lifeguard Archie Elliott also paddles one and scores what must be one of the tubes of his life as he is whipped into his first ever tow wave.
