A surfer has escaped serious injuries after being attacked by a shark on the Mid-North Coast of NSW this morning, making it the fourth incident to occur in 48 hours on the East Coast of Australia.
According to news outlets, the 39-year-old man was surfing Point Plomer near Crescent Head when his board was bitten by what is believed to be a bull shark.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital with minor cuts and grazes to his leg.
Steve Pearce, Surf Life Saving NSW chief executive, told ABC News that the man was lucky to be alive and is now recovering in hospital.
Shark surveillance drones were operating in the area at the time of the attack.
All beaches have been closed from Queens Head to Big Hill.
